Google’s Gemini Student Plan Is Free for a Year in Pakistan: How to Apply

Google is providing a free Gemini student membership for one year to eligible university students in Pakistan. I tested the application process using my university details as a software-engineering student at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. I successfully verified my student status and activated the plan using my university details.

The offer includes higher Gemini usage limits, access to Gemini Omni, additional cloud storage, video-generation tools and several features designed for studying. Verification is done using SheerID, and it verifies that you are currently studying in an eligible institute.

If you are a university student in Pakistan, here is how the offer works and how you can try to claim it.

What is the free Google Gemini student plan?

Gemini Student Plan is an annual AI subscription specifically tailored for eligible students enrolled in colleges and universities.Based on the localized Pakistan page, the plan comes with increased limits on Gemini Omni, 400 GB storage, video production. Students can also upload course materials, make study notebooks, and interact through visualizations using Gemini Live.

Google’s official Gemini for Students page presents the offer as a study companion rather than simply another chatbot subscription.

Is the Gemini student offer available in Pakistan?

Yes, the student-offer page is accessible in Pakistan and includes an Urdu-localized version. Pakistan is also available during the SheerID country and institution verification process.

When I opened the official student page, it displayed the following offer in Urdu:

After clicking the claim button, I was redirected to Google One and there, the student plan was available. The selection of Get Student Offer will open up the verification form by SheerID.This is a more convincing sign than just a promotion as the Pakistani students have been provided with the opportunity to move to the actual verification process from the country, institution, and student status.

Nonetheless, the eligibility of the particular student is contingent upon verification.

What do you need before starting?

1. Your complete legal name
2. Your date of birth
3. Name of your University
4. Active email account issued by your university
5. Access to your university’s account or student portal
6. A student card or letter of enrolment or other proof if required

I used my official CUI Lahore student email during the process. You should use your own academic email rather than someone else’s credentials

How to claim the free Gemini student plan in Pakistan

Step 1: Open the official student page

Visit the official Gemini for Students page.

Do not use sites that are not official or links found via social media postings. The official website should be from google.com or gemini.google.com.

Step 2: Select the student offer

Click Claim Free Student Plan. On the Urdu version, the button appears as:

Step 3: Sign in to your Google account

Login using the Google account that you wish to enable the membership on. Your University email serves to verify your student status, but Google may require you to use or link a personal Google account while signing up for the membership. Make sure you go through your account details before proceeding with the sign up.

Step 4: Choose “Get student offer”

Google One should now show you the list of student offers available. Proceed by clicking on Get student offer in order to start the verification process. You will then be taken to a verification form provided by SheerID, which is Google’s third-party verification tool for students.

Step 5: Complete the SheerID form

The verification form requests:

1. Country
2. Educational institution
3. First name
4. Last name
5. Date of birth
6. Email address

Choose Pakistan as your country before searching for your university. Then select your institution and enter your information exactly as it appears in its records.

Complete the Cloud-flare security challenge and click Verify My Student Status.

Step 6: Verify through your institution

It depends on your college whether SheerID permits signing in with your educational institution. Should your educational institution support this type of verification and the provided data fit, then the process will be completed fast. However, sometimes SheerID may ask for an additional proof, like your student ID, tuition bill, transcript, or enrollment letter. It does not mean that you are not eligible; it only means that automated verification did not suffice.

After successful verification, return to Google One

Is the plan really free?

In the student page, the membership is available for free for one year to those who qualify. However, “free for one year” is not always synonymous with no payment information at all. On the last screen of Google One, look out for the cost of renewal and date of renewal. You should set a reminder on your calendar before your one-year period expires if you don’t intend to subscribe thereafter.

Remarks

It will be a very beneficial experience for Pakistani university students to try out some premium AI software without having to pay for an entire year’s subscription. The lab notebooks, increased limits, extra storage and learning functions of Gemini may help them with their academic work.
